Steadion is designed so your health information stays yours. This policy explains what the app accesses and where it goes, which is a short story, because the app has no accounts and no tracking.
The short version
- We do not collect, receive, store, or sell your data to anyone.
- There is no account, no login, and no tracking.
- Your data lives on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud account, which we cannot access.
- No third-party analytics, advertising, or data brokers are involved.
Apple Health data
With your permission, Steadion reads the following from Apple Health to show you trends, time in range, and insights: blood glucose (from any source, including a continuous glucose monitor), body weight, body fat percentage, waist circumference, lean body mass, steps, exercise minutes, sleep, resting heart rate, cardio fitness (VO2 max), workouts, your Activity rings (Move, Exercise, and Stand progress against your own goals), and your date of birth and biological sex (used only to interpret cardio-fitness norms).
If you keep a medications list in Apple Health, Steadion also lets you mark which ones are for diabetes, so it can show whether you took them. It reads only the medications you have already added to Health, it cannot add or change any there.
Steadion writes exactly one type of data to Apple Health: blood glucose readings that you choose to log by hand, so they stay alongside the rest of your health data. It writes nothing else.
Apple Health data is used only inside the app, on your device, to display charts, insights, and notifications. It is never transmitted to us or anyone else. You can review or revoke Steadion's Health access at any time in Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
Camera and photos
Steadion can read the number off a photo of your glucose meter, so you don't have to type it in. You can take that photo in the app, choose one from your library, or share one to Steadion from the Photos app.
The photo is analysed entirely on your device, using on device text recognition. Steadion also reads the time the photo was taken, from the photo's own metadata, so the reading is logged when you measured it rather than when you got shared it with Steadion. That time is shown to you and stays editable. Steadion does not keep the photo, does not copy it anywhere, and does not send it or anything read from it off your device. Only the number reaches the app, and only after you confirm it: a reading found in a photo is filled into the logging form for you to check and save, never saved on its own.
Camera access is requested the first time you scan, and only for this. Choosing an existing photo needs no photo-library access at all, because the system picker hands Steadion the single image you picked and nothing else.
HbA1c results and goals you enter
HbA1c lab results and the goals/thresholds you set are stored using Apple's SwiftData with CloudKit. That means they are saved on your device and synced through your own private iCloud database, so they follow you across your devices. This data is stored under your Apple ID; we have no access to it and it is not shared with any third party.
What we don't do
- No advertising identifiers, no cross-app tracking, no App Tracking Transparency prompt (there is nothing to track).
- No third-party SDKs for analytics, ads, or attribution.
- No selling or sharing of personal information.
Data retention and deletion
Because we hold none of your data, there is nothing for us to delete. You are in control:
- Delete the app to remove its on-device data.
- Remove synced HbA1c/goal data from within iCloud, or by deleting the app's iCloud data in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
- Data written to Apple Health (blood glucose you logged) is managed in the Health app and remains there until you delete it.
Children
Steadion is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. (It collects nothing from anyone.)
Changes
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
